Instant Pot Gut Healing Bone Broth

Equipment
- Instant Pot
- Strainer
- Mason Jars
Ingredients
- 1 Carcass and bones of 1 whole organic chicken
- 2 Stalks of celery Cut in large pieces
- 2 Carrot sticks Cut in large pieces
- 1/2 Medium onion
- 1-2 Sprigs of fresh rosemary
- 1-2 Sprigs of fresh thyme
- 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp Salt
- Filtered water Enough to cover all ingredients
Instructions
- Add the chicken carcass, bones, and all ingredients to the Instant Pot.
- Fill the pot with enough filtered water to cover all ingredients, making sure not to go over the max fill line.
- Place the lid on top and lock into place. Make sure the steam release knob is in the sealing position.
- Set your Instant Pot on High Pressure for two hours. It will take some time to build up pressure before the timer starts to countdown.
- When the two hours is up, let the pressure release naturally, about 15-30 minutes.
- Open the top of the Instant Pot, and use a slotted spoon to remove large ingredients. Strain remaining bone broth into mason jars.
Notes
- Use organic free-range chicken to avoid antibiotics, pesticides, and hormones.
- Play around with other ingredients and spices such as fish bones, garlic, and oregano.
- This recipe can also be made in a crock pot. Use the exact same ingredients and simmer for 24-48 hours.
- Use the broth as a hot healing beverage and in soups or other recipes for up to a week. Bone broth can also be frozen.
